n for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has been ordered by Krishna Tirath, minister, women and child development ministry, into this sordid episode. NCPCR will submit the report in one week’s time,” the ministry spokesperson told HT.
HT had broken the story on Thursday. The report said that Mandsaur police had recently rescued 21 abducted girls, aged between 1 and 8, from brothels in a series of raids. Some of the 34 men arrested admitted to administering estrogen (a hormone) and steroids like prednisolone dexona and kenacort dexona to their victims.
The National Human Rights Commission has also taken suo motu cognizance of the report and has has issued notices to the Madhya Pradesh chief secretary and DGP Madhya Pradesh, calling for detailed reports in the matter within four weeks, the NHRC website said.
