19-year-old girl raped for over three months

NEW DELHI:
Even when Delhi Police are claiming to make efforts to stop human trafficking, especially of women, an incident has come to light in which a 19-yearold girl was allegedly kept in confinement by a human-trafficking gang for over three months and repeatedly raped by a member of the gang.
According to the sources, the victim had even got pregnant after which the accused reportedly gave her a contraceptive pill. The girl had been lured by the gang from Old Delhi Railway Station with the aim of selling her, added the source. The incident has sent shockwaves in the department .
The victim had reportedly come to Delhi early in January via train from her native place Mau (Uttar Pradesh) as she had run away from her house following her father's second marriage. She was reportedly lost at the Old Delhi Railway Station when an elderly man approached her and introduced her to two youngsters. "The old man told her that these two youths would help her in getting a job in Delhi. One of them has been identified as Munna while the other's name is not known," said a source.
The girl was reportedly kept in confinement in Panipat for two months where Munna allegedly raped her almost everyday , said a source. The accused persons reportedly brought her from Panipat in March and then kept her in Noida. "Munna again raped her repeatedly. During this period, she has reported in her complaint, she also got pregnant and Munna had given her a pill to avert pregnancy," the source said.
On April 4, the accused persons brought her to a flat in A Block, Shastri Park. A senior official said, "On April 5 afternoon , while Munna's accomplice was not there in the flat, he allegedly raped her. He was trying to rape her again in the night when the other accused was sleeping . The co-accused (whose name is not known) got up hearing the girl's screams and had a fight with Munna," he said.
The source added that the co-accused slammed Munna for the act and told him that 'they had brought her only for selling' . "They had a fight over the issue and co-accused made a PCR call. After this, the girl narrated the whole incident to us," said an officer. The accused persons were arrested and a case was registered at Seelampur police station. The girl was reportedly in a state of shock. Officials said that Munna and his accomplice along with others were running a human trafficking racket. "There are several others on railway stations in Delhi who lure women and children who are alone and looking lost and then sell them," said a source. Officials said that they are looking for the old man and for clues to his other rackets as well.
