Abducted minors rescued from brothel in Pune

PUNE: Seven girls, including six minors, were rescued from a brothel in Budhwar Peth on Wednesday, even as the police arrested the 'manager' of the brothel for allegedly forcing the girls into the sex trade.

The Faraskhana police identified the suspect as Radha Raju Pathak (25) of Budhwar Peth. Also, 10 other persons, including the owner of the house where Pathak was allegedly running the brothel, have been booked.

According to senior police inspector V M Gangalwad of the Faraskhana police station, the police had received a tip-off that Pathak was allegedly forcing some minor girls into the sex trade. "On Wednesday, we raided the brothel and rescued seven girls, including six minors," he said.

He said all the girls were from West Bengal. "Around a month ago, they were allegedly abducted by a group of nine persons - including six women - and brought to Pune. The suspects had sold the girls to Pathak, who was forcing them into the trade. These nine persons are among the 10 booked." Gangalwad added.

Recently, the social security cell of the Pune crime branch rescued three minor girls from a brothel in Budhwar Peth. A police team, led by senior inspector Bhanupratap Barge, had conducted the raid and rescued the girls.
