According to Varacha police in Surat, they got a complaint about a missing girl from her father, a resident of Bhikha ni Wadi and native of Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh in November 2010. Pinki (name changed) had been to a shop near railway station from where she went missing.
"After that, her only news came in April when a man called up her father and told her that she is working at a residence as domestic help. Shocked, her father immediately contacted the man who directed her to a woman in Ahmedabad who had employed her. The girl was finally traced to Vijapur from where she got rescued on Friday," said a Surat police official.
RS Patel, inspector of Varacha police station, said Pinki was approached by a woman in late sixties near the railway station. "The woman talked to her after which Pinki fell unconscious. When she woke up, they were travelling in a train and approaching Vadodara. Pinki was handed over to Bhartiben, a resident of Makarpura, for Rs 10,000. She employed her in small chores," he said.
Bhartiben then handed over Pinki to her relative Chandrikaben, a resident of Amraiwadi. Here Pinki managed to contact a native of UP whom she gave her father's number. Pinki was sent back to Bhartiben and she remained with her till April.
"Later, a man called Rampuri Gosai, a resident of Vijapur, who waslooking for a match, approached Bhartiben. He agreed to pay her Rs 50,000 for the girl. Since their marriage, she was living with the Gosai family. We have arrested Rampuri and Bhartiben and search for other accused is on," said Patel. The accused have been charged with abduction of the girl and human trafficking। Source
