PANCHKULA: Adding another feather to its cap, Panchkula city will become first among Tricity to have special cell to deal with human trafficking cases. Haryana police is setting up this special cell under its pilot project in the city.
A senior official of Haryana police said that the objective behind setting up the special cell is to give appropriate care to such cases, as in these women and children are involved.
Haryana police has already started giving training and holding workshops for its officers in the matter, where they were appraised to be sensitive while dealing with cases of domestic violence, human trafficking, child abuse and bonded labour.
Sources said that the officers to be posted to this special cell would receive proper training to deal with human trafficking cases.
A senior police official said that a DSP rank officer would be looking after the cell. Also, members of select NGO, district child and social welfare department and a senior advocate of Haryana would be attached with the DSP to deal with these cases.
The special cell in Panchkula will deal with cases all over Haryana. Monthly report of this cell will be forwarded to superintendent of Panchkula police and Haryana DGP.
