Goa: Victim of forced prostitution rescued

Panaji, July 24 (IBNS) Goa Crime Branch has said a 21-year-old victim of flesh trade has been rescued in a raid on suspected brothel at Neura village in South Goa.



Three persons have been arrested by the police for allegedly luring the girl into prostitution ring.

Dhaniram alias Raju of Madhya Pradesh, Manuel Rebeiro of Neura and cab driver Prakash Simepuraskar from Calangute have been arrested under the Immoral Trafficking Act.

Police spokesperson said the raid was carried out at the house of Manuel and the victim , who hails from Bijapur in the neighbouring Karnataka, was rescued. She has been remanded to protective home at Merces, six kilometers from the capital.

While Raja and Manuel are arrested for trafficking girls for the illicit business, Prakash is booked for transporting girls to their prospective customers. A search has been launched to track other victims as well even as suspected people are being detained.
