The Santacruz police on Wednesday raided a bar owned by Nihar Thackeray, grandson of Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray. The police have arrested three men and rescued nine women under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).  Police say they received a tip- off that some illegal activ
ities were going on at Sangeet bar at Gazdhar Bandh area.
A police team raided the bar around 12.30am and arrested three men who have been identified as Ramesh Shetty, Harish Shetty and Arjun Thapa. The nine rescued women were produced in the Mazgaon court.
"The case has also been lodged against Nihar, Anu Shetty, Jairaj Shukla and Jagannath Mishra who are untraceable," Madhukar Chaudhari, police inspector of Santacruz police station said. Shetty, Shukla and Mishra are bar employees.
Nihar is the son of Bal Thackrey's eldest son Bindumadhav Thackrey, who died in 1996 in a car accident. Bindumadhav was into film making and was the producer of hit film Agnipariksha.
Police sources said the bar has been sealed. "Further investigation is on in the case and we are trying to trace Nihar and the other three," added Chaudhari.
