The 14-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped from Indore and then sold to a brothel owner in the city`s red light area was rescued on Saturday night by a crime branch team headed by police inspector, Madhao Giri.
A year ago, Mrunali (name changed), who was then 12, was kidnapped by three unidentified persons from Indore while she was on her way to her uncle`s residence. "Three youths came in a four-wheeler and forcibly took her away when she was on her way to her uncle`s house," said Giri.
The girl told the cops that the youths then took her to different places and raped her. After that they contacted Lavangshri, a brothel owner at Ganga Jamuna to whom she was sold. At the brothel she was forced into flesh trade. The girl told the cops that though she tried to flee many times but couldn`t as she under constant watch of two women deployed by Lavangshri and was always locked in a room. She never got a chance to contact any of his family members.
On finding her missing Mrunali`s mother lodged a complaint with Indore police. Mrunali, whose father had expired some years ago, was staying with her mother and an elder sister. Cops said that the girl actually belonged to Rohini village in Khandwa district and had shifted to Indore only a year before.
According to the cops, the youth who had gone to meet Simran came in contact with the minor girl. After hearing her story the youth initially contacted her mother in Indore. After confirming the girl`s story, he reported the matter to Joint Commissioner of Police, D Kanakratnam who then alerted the Crime Branch officials.
Acting on the orders of CP Ankush Dhanvijay, a crime branch team under the supervision of Additional CP Shantaram Waghmare (north region) conducted a raid and rescued the girl.
Cops have arrested Lavangshri`s accomplices, Kallu and Simran. Police is on Lavangshri`s trail, who has fled to Gwalior.
