HOUMA, La. - Two more suspects were arrested in the aggravated rape case of a 12-year-old girl in which she was sold for sex to a 65-year-old man, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. Three suspects were previously arrested.
The incident, which occurred August 21, involved Sheryl Lee Martin, 34, and her daughter, Brittany Martin, 19, selling the 12-year-old girl to Terry Leboeuf for $100. The girl is not related to the Martins or Leboeuf.
The following morning, Leboeuf was approached by Brittany Martin, Wesley Songy II, 37, and Don Thibodeaux, 44, who told Leboeuf that they knew the 12-year-old’s mother and if he paid them, they would talk to the mother about not filing charges against him.
Leboeuf paid them $500 on one occasion and $300 on another to talk to the girl’s mother, said the Sheriff’s Office.
Due to a tip from an anonymous caller, Leboeuf and Brittany Martin were arrested August 25, and Sheryl Martin turned herself in August 27.
On Tuesday morning, Songy and Thibodeaux were questioned by detectives and admitted to assisting Brittany Martin in extorting money. They remain in the Terrebonne Parish Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Brittany Martin, who was already incarcerated, was also booked with extortion, and remains in prison on a $500,000 bond.
Sheryl Martin was charged with principal to prostitution, principal to aggravated rape, indecent behavior with a juvenile, felony issuing worthless checks and failure to appear. If convicted of principal to aggravated rape, she faces mandatory life in prison. She is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
Leboeuf was released from the jail after posting a $500,000 bond.
