Woman rescued from Bihar in human trafficking case

Cuttack: In yet another human trafficking case, police have rescued a woman and apprehended a person from Bihar, official sources informed on Monday.
The arrested man has been identified as Ravindra Paswan, a resident of Patari in Bihar.

According to reports, Paswan, two months ago, had persuaded a woman from Sikharpur area of Cuttack to accompany him to Patari on the pretext of marrying her. But Paswan had other plans; to engage the woman in prostitution and sell her kidneys.
The incident came to fore after the woman informed her mother who then registered a complaint in this regard before the state commission for women here.
Following the complaint, a separate police team was sent to Bihar to rescue the woman and nab the accused and bring them to Cuttack.
“My daughter informed me about his ill intentions and thereafter I took the help of police and the women commission to rescue her,” the victim’s mother said.
“He took her to Bihar on the pretext of marrying her. But he used to hit her in an inebriated state. However, she was rescued by the police later,” Dolly Das, Editor of Project Swarajya said.

“After receiving complaints we had sent a team to Bihar to rescue the woman and arrest the accused,” Cuttack DCP Praveen Kumar said.
Police is further investigating the case for more information.
Meanwhile, the duo was sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for medical examination today.
